Will you need this item in the next space? Have you used it in the past two years? If you’re shaking your head no, then it’s time to toss or donate it.

Once you have your items down to the essentials, it’s time to start packing them. Instead of throwing all of it into random boxes, we suggest trying these simple packing strategies:
- Start with items you don’t need right away
- Use correctly sized boxes
- Group similar items together
- Use color-coded tape and label each box by room
Remember that this step can take longer than you think. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time so you’re not scrambling at the last minute.
3. Get the Right Tools
