2. Tell the Government Where You Are Living
You need to change your driver’s license and vehicle registration within 30 days of moving to your new state. You may want to do this in advance so you don’t waste time at the RMV.
If you are a registered voter, you will need to register in your new state. Keep in mind that some states have voter ID laws or other regulations, so study what documents you need in order to register.
3. Find New Healthcare
Your healthcare plan may expire if you move out of state. You should find a new plan before you start the moving process.
If your job provides healthcare, you should still check the terms of your plan. It may not cover everything, and you will need to find a new doctor in your network.
4. Save Some Money
A long-distance move can be expensive. If you are driving a moving truck, you need to pay for gas and additional services.
